# Bandwidth Setup Guide

```
Note: If you are using a newly added phone number or carrier account or have had messaging stop working unexpectedly, please make sure you have completed your carrier's 10DLC registration process before attempting to utilize Textable. 10DLC registration is required by ALL supported carriers due to the requirements set by the wireless carriers.
```

Configuring your Bandwidth account with Textable using OAuth 2.0 should only take a few minutes. This guide assumes that you have signed up for a Textable account and are at the "Profile" page (located at [https://textable.app/profile](https://textable.app/profile).)

# Bandwidth OAuth 2.0 Setup Guide

> **Important:** Bandwidth OAuth 2.0 is the recommended authentication method for new Bandwidth integrations. Bandwidth's legacy API User authentication is deprecated and is scheduled to be decommissioned on December 2, 2026.

## Step 1: Log In to Bandwidth

First, log in to the Bandwidth App:

[https://app.bandwidth.com](https://app.bandwidth.com)

## Step 2: Locate Your Account ID

Locate your Bandwidth **Account ID** in the Bandwidth App.

Copy the Account ID and paste it into the **Account ID** field on your Textable profile.

> **Note:** When using OAuth 2.0, use the current 7-digit Bandwidth Account ID shown in the Bandwidth App. Do not use the older `u-...` account ID format.

## Step 3: Create a Messaging Application

Next, create a Messaging Application in Bandwidth that will be used by Textable.

1. In the Bandwidth App, navigate to **Applications**.
2. Click **Add Application**.
3. Select **Messaging** as the application type.
4. Enter a name for the application, such as **Textable**.
5. Configure the inbound messaging callback URL as:

```text
https://inbound.textable.app/receive?provider=bandwidth
```

> **Note:** If you are a private label customer, please replace `https://inbound.textable.app` with your private label hostname. For example:
>
>
>
> ```text
> https://privatelabel-txb.textable.app/receive?provider=bandwidth
> ```
>
>
>
> You should have received this value in your onboarding e-mail, but it can also be requested by e-mailing [support@textable.co](mailto:support@textable.co).

1. Create the application.
2. Once created, copy the Bandwidth **Application ID** and paste it into the **Application ID** field on your Textable profile.

## Step 4: Assign Your Number to the Messaging Application

Make sure the Bandwidth Location containing the phone number you want to use with Textable is associated with the Messaging Application you created in the previous step.

Once the number is associated with that application, enter the number in the **DID / VoIP Phone #** field on your Textable profile.

## Step 5: Create OAuth 2.0 API Credentials

You will now need to create OAuth 2.0 credentials in Bandwidth.

1. In the Bandwidth App, go to **Account > API Credentials**.
2. Click **Create** to create a new API Credential.
3. Enter a description for the credential, such as **Textable**.
4. Configure the credential for the appropriate Bandwidth account and permissions required for messaging.
5. Create the credential.
6. Bandwidth will display a **Client ID** and **Client Secret**.
7. Copy the **Client ID** and paste it into the **Client ID** field on your Textable profile.
8. Copy the **Client Secret** and paste it into the **Client Secret** field on your Textable profile.

> **Important:** Bandwidth only displays the Client Secret once when the credential is created. Make sure you copy and securely save it before leaving the page.
>
>
>
> **Note:** If you do not see **API Credentials** in the Bandwidth App, your Bandwidth user may not have permission to manage credentials. Contact your Bandwidth account administrator to request the appropriate credential access.

## Step 6: Save Your Textable Profile

Confirm that your Textable profile contains the following Bandwidth information:

- **Account ID**
- **Application ID**
- **Client ID**
- **Client Secret**
- **DID / VoIP Phone #**

Click **Update Profile Details** in Textable to save the entered data.

That’s it, you should be able to send and receive messages with Bandwidth using OAuth 2.0!

## Troubleshooting

### API Credentials is not available in Bandwidth

If you do not see **Account > API Credentials**, confirm that your Bandwidth user has permission to manage OAuth credentials. Your Bandwidth account administrator may need to grant you credential access.

### Client Secret was not saved

Bandwidth only displays the Client Secret when the OAuth credential is created. If you no longer have the Client Secret, create a new OAuth credential in Bandwidth and update the **Client ID** and **Client Secret** fields in Textable.

### Outbound messages are not sending

Confirm that the following values in Textable match the values in your Bandwidth account:

- **Account ID**
- **Application ID**
- **Client ID**
- **Client Secret**

Also confirm that the phone number you entered in Textable belongs to the Bandwidth Location associated with your Messaging Application.

### Inbound messages are not appearing in Textable

Confirm that the Messaging Application associated with your phone number is configured to send inbound messaging events to:

```text
https://inbound.textable.app/receive?provider=bandwidth
```

For private label customers, confirm that the webhook uses the corresponding private label hostname instead.

## Bandwidth Legacy Setup Guide

1. First, you should login to your console at [https://dashboard.bandwidth.com/portal/report/#login:](https://dashboard.bandwidth.com/portal/report/#login:)
2. Once logged in, go to the **Account Overview** page.
   1. Copy your "Account ID" and paste it into the Account ID field on your Textable profile.
3. You will now need to create a new application in your Bandwidth.com Dashboard.
   1. Name the application: Textable (You can name it whatever you'd like.)
   2. Click "Messaging" for Application Type.
   3. Enter the following in Callback URL: https://inbound.textable.app/receive?provider=bandwidth

      **Note**: If you are a private label customer, please replace "https://inbound.textable.app" with your private label hostname (e.g. "https://privatelabel-txb.textable.app/receive?provider=bandwidth"). You should have received this value in your onboarding e-mail, but can also be requested by e-mailing support@textable.co.
   4. Click "Create Application"
   5. Once created, you should be able to see an Application ID. Copy and paste that into the Application ID field on your Textable profile.
   6. Please be sure to assign the number (or location) that you would like to use with Textable to the newly created application inside of Bandwidth.
   7. Once the number is assigned, be sure to enter that number in your Textable profile in the DID / VoIP Phone # field.
4. You will now need to create a set of API Credentials. You can do so from the Application Details screen of the application that you just created in your Bandwidth Dashboard.
   1. Click + Create New button.
